Equipped with system for monitoring work speed and a heater for boosting performance, this upright machine deep-cleans carpets and rugs by forcing a warm solution of water and cleansing concentrate into fibers and vacuuming up the dirty solution. The 1440-watt machine also scrubs bare floors (but not hardwood floors) and cleans stairs, upholstery, auto interiors, and even mattresses with onboard tools that spray dirty surfaces and crevices with the cleaning solution. A powered hand-tool that either brushes or vacuums at the flick of a switch accompanies the machine and attaches to a flexible accessories hose. The heater's advantage over ordinary machines is that it increases the cleaning solution's temperature (up to but not exceeding 180 degrees F) and prevents the solution from cooling. The electronic monitor displays lights showing whether the machine is going back and forth too fast for optimum performance. This model also has an applicator for spraying 3M Scotchgard dirt-and-stain protector (8 ounces included) onto a carpet. Here's how the machine works: A plastic bottle for filling with Bissell's Fiber Cleansing Formula (16 ounces included) fits into the base. A removable 1-gallon tank contains a bladder to hold clean water for mixing with the cleansing concentrate. (Dirty water vacuumed by the machine collects around the bladder.) A dial offers three settings for various tasks: normal, high traffic, and water rinse/carpet protector. A trigger on the machine's handle applies solution as desired. A flow-indicator spins when solution is applied and stops if the tank needs refilling. There's a switch for applying solution through the tools: tough-stain brush, upholstery tool, bare-floor head, crevice tool, pretreat wand. (The machine does not heat solution for tools.) The machine's 12-inch floating brush-roll automatically adjusts for carpet heights. Safe for virtually all carpets and upholstery fabrics, the deep-cleaning method can be turned off for dry-vacuuming delicate wool and Oriental rugs. The machine quickly assembles in five steps, using two bolts and nuts and two Phillips-head screws (all included). An especially understandable assembly/instruction booklet accompanies the machine, which carries a 1-year warranty against defects. --Fred Brack

Bissell 9400 ProHeat 2X Select Upright Deep Carpet Cleaner Review

!±8± Bissell 9400 ProHeat 2X Select Upright Deep Carpet Cleaner Review

The Bissell 9400 ProHeat 2X Select Upright Deep Carpet Cleaner is the perfect system if for cleaning your carpet but is also an excellent choice for removing dust and dirt on upholstery, stairs and hardwood floors.

The Bissell proheat 9400 lasts longer and it performs better than its famous ProHeat predecessors, due to its many useful additions. It is one of the latest in the 9xxx series and it's preferred by many for its strong suction and superior stain cleaning abilities.

Bissell 9400 ProHeat Features Reviews

* The Build in Heater warms water up to a maximum of 190 degrees, which is the key in removing stubborn stains and grease. The heater does not only heat the water 25 degrees above tap temperature, but also keeps is hot, even while using the machine.
* A powerful 12 amp motor rotates the two rows of brushes called DirtLifter. As opposed to other systems, the brushes do an excellent job in removing the dust not only on the surface, but the actual deep-down particles in the carpet. The 2 sets of brushes work independently and adjust automatically depending on the surface you are cleaning
* 2 extra little brushes are situated to the sides, improving the cleaning at the edges and near the walls.
* With The bissell 9400 proheat 2x you also have to ability to customize the cleaning solution mix and change the cleaning settings: light clean, normal, rinse, or heavy traffic settings
* The 2 separate tanks hold the dirt water and the cleaning solution separately. Please note that you do not have to mix the cleaning solution. The system will do it for you.

The Bissell 9400 proheat 2x is used by many to not only clean carpets, but a variety of surfaces such as upholstery and bare floors. This is achieved with the 30 foot long power cord and the special upholstery and bare floor power tools that complement the cleaner.

Other features include a stain-removing tool, a trial-size stain cleaner and fiber cleansing formula, and Scotchgard.

Pros

When it comes to removing stains, almost nothing compares with Bissell 9400's suction power and the Build in Heater. The ten brushes agitate the carpet bringing ALL the dust to surface and the 12-inch cleaning patch suck everything inside.

We also like the Bissell proheat 2x 9400 because it is easy to operate and it includes tools that make possible the cleaning for a variety of floors. The 2 extra brushes used to clean areas near the walls and edges is another big addition.

Cons

The bissell proheat 2x select 9400 is a little heavy when compared to other similar systems. It also requires some time to clean, but usually using the "rinse" mode will do the trick.

Conclusion

Bissell 9400 ProHeat 2X Select Upright Deep Carpet Cleaner does a better job in removing stains than its "earlier brothers" and it is one of Bissell's bestselling systems. We recommend it for day to day use due to its durability and ease of use.
